ENGINE INSPECTIONS

Internal Engine Inspection

Do you need to establish the true condition or specification of an engine?

With more than 25 years’ experience building high-performance engines, Scottish Kitcar centre offers detailed internal inspections of petrol and diesel engines. Our service provides clear, professionally documented findings about an engine’s internal components, condition, specification and workmanship.

This service may be particularly useful if:

  • You are in dispute with a company or individual over an engine that has been built, repaired or supplied.

  • You want confirmation that an engine contains the components or specification you were promised.

  • You are considering buying or selling an engine or vehicle and would like the internal specification verified.

  • You require a documented assessment before deciding on further repairs or rebuilding work.

  • You want to establish the likely cause of an engine failure.

What does the inspection include?

The engine will be carefully dismantled and examined by an engine builder with more than 25 years’ experience. Depending on the engine and the level of inspection agreed, the service can include:

  • Identification of key internal components.

  • Dimensional checks and recorded measurements of relevant components.

  • Assessment of component condition, wear and damage.

  • Inspection of assembly methods and general workmanship.

  • Identification of visible faults, incorrect assembly or specification discrepancies.

  • Photographic and video evidence documenting the inspection.

  • A comprehensive written report clearly setting out our findings.

Our aim is to provide a clear, factual and technically informed account of what is found inside the engine.

We can inspect a wide range of petrol and diesel engines, including standard road-car, competition and high-performance engines.

Each inspection is individually quoted, as the cost will depend on the engine type, its condition and the extent of dismantling, testing and measurement required.

Please note that this is a technical inspection and reporting service. If the report is intended for court proceedings, expert-witness purposes or a formal legal claim, this must be discussed and agreed with us before the inspection begins.
